Raja Ravi varma and his painting
I instantly became fan of Raja Ravi varma on seeing his painting for the first time in Salarjung Museum. There are only two of his paintings in Salarjung Museum in hyderabad.
Some 15 paintings are there in the art Gallery at Mysore. All of them need not say are marvellous. In his life time he has done around 1904 paintings. he was assisted by his brother raja Raja Varma who was a landscape artist. In most of the paintings raja varma used to do the background landscape.
Some of the paintings have the 3D effect in the sense the particular charcter changes its look to the viewer's angle. this feature is very well seen in the paintings displayed in mysore.
Actually one painter named John Zoffany has painted a picture of Tippu sulthan in 1780 may be which is an inspiration to Raja ravi varma for the 3D effects.
I will say Ravi varma is the unbeaten ever best Artist.
